Testimonials

Dr. Wietsma has treated my ferrets, dogs, and cats with the utmost care and respect.  He is very intuitive and understands what was best for all of my beloved pets.  He has also treated me (their human counterpart) with care and consideration in all the medical decisions I have had to make for them.  He is the best in the business and I have been going to him for over 25 years.
                                                                                                                                             -Ann Cadoret
Dr. Hank Wietsma has been our veterinarian for 26 years. Throughout the years, we have encountered many happy pet moments. We have also shared some difficult ones in which we got through with his excellent care, support, and endless compassion. There is no one I trust more with the care of my animals. Dr. Wietsma's kind and caring manner and his extensive knowledge and experience with all types of animals truly makes him someone we hold in the highest regard.
                                                                                                                                     -Julie and Bob Faria

Dr. Lester is an extraordinary vet and I wouldn't be comfortable bringing my dog anywhere else. When my 8 year old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog started exhibiting symptoms of bloat, a fatal condition if not treated early, Dr. Lester immediately arranged to see him at his home (never mentioning we interrupted his family dinner). Upon examination, Dr. Lester rushed with me to his office where he took an X- ray and performed a procedure to relieve the pressure within his stomach. If he had not performed this procedure ultimately my dog wouldn't have lived to see surgery. Dr. Lester constantly explained what he was doing, all the while making sure I was okay and even calling ahead to his surgical facility to make sure they knew we were on our way and to prep for surgery to untwist his stomach.

Dr. Wietsma joined the Foster Parrots Board and stepped in as head sanctuary veterinarian at The New England Exotic Wildlife Sanctuary in 2008. Since then he has invested a level of professional oversight and avian expertise that has been instrumental in shaping the values and exemplary standards of care at the sanctuary.  The depth of his compassion combined with his extraordinary skills in avian and exotic medicine make him one of the region's most sought-after vets.  So much of our success as a sanctuary and our reputation for quality care has been achieved because Hank is an essential part of our team.  We love our vet!
